Greetings, Tusky Valley students, staff, and families, and welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Ahead of us remains 179 student days to learn and grow academically, nine months of maximizing each student's potential, and three seasons of athletic and fine-art programming to showcase the talent, hard work, and perseverance of ALL TV students! I could not be prouder to not only be an alumnus of TV schools, but to live, work, and now serve in the TV Community as your superintendent. This will be the start of my 11th year on staff, and each year gets better; I can’t wait to see all this school year has in store!
The TV team is a professional, caring staff committed to upholding the
Core Values of the district and keeping our focus on students….all that they are and all that they can become! The safety of our students and staff is a top priority as we work to create safe, positive environments that challenge students to think critically, perform with integrity, and contribute positively to their school experience. A few quick highlights demonstrating the core values being lived out include:
- Numerous local, regional, state, and national awards earned by TV students, teams, and staff members over the past year in academic, athletic, and fine art performances
- TVLS being designated as a distinguished PLTW district by Project Lead the Way for 21/22, 1 of only 2 districts in Ohio
- Identification of TV Primary School in Spring 2022 as a model site for early literacy instruction by the Ohio Department of Education, 1 of 13 sites in Ohio

The newly released
District Master Plan highlights the district's overarching goals, as well as the action steps to meet the goals. This plan will drive district initiatives and operations over the next three years. I encourage you to take a look at the plan and see what we have in the works, and I'm thankful for strong community support as we work together to serve TV students best.
It’s an exciting time to be a Tusky Valley Trojan! While we are busy getting ready for a new school year, work continues on the new 7-12 middle/high school, and the building is on schedule to be completed by August 2023, one step closer to the master plan and goal of bringing all PK-12 students to one campus.
If I have not yet had the privilege to meet you, I hope I can at a district event soon! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if we can assist you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Derek Varansky
