The Tusky Valley football team wasted little time in taking control of the Battle of the Trojans as they scored on their first offensive play on their way to a 47-6 victory.

Newcomerstown received the opening kickoff but the Trojan defense forced a three and out.  Tusky Valley took over at the Newcomerstown 45 yard line following the punt and found the end zone on the first offensive play from scrimmage as Tristin Tesch raced untouched into the end zone to give Tusky Valley an early 7-0 lead.

Newcomerstown’s second offensive possession did not go any better for the orange and black Trojans as Tusky Valley forced another three and out.  This time the Trojans drove 60 yards on just six plays and scored on Isaiah Schlegel’s 33 yard touchdown highlighted by a beautiful stiff arm to break away from a Newcomerstown defensive back.  Sam Ray’s extra point made it 14-0 Tusky Valley.

The third Tusky Valley possession would once again result in points as the Trojans put together their longest drive of the season.  The 19 play, 92 yard drive ended with Tristin Tesch’s second touchdown of the night, this time from seven yards out, that put Tusky Valley up 20-0.

Tusky Valley would extend their lead to 27-0 at halftime when Noah Love fought his way into the end zone from one yard out with 1:20 remaining in the second quarter.

Love would get his second touchdown of the night on an eight yard touchdown run on Tusky Valley’s opening drive of second half to extend the red and black Trojan lead to 34-0.

Newcomerstown would get their lone offensive highlight of the night on the opening play of the fourth quarter when Gavin Weaver hit Chase Bryant on a simple completion over the middle.  Bryant would take the ball and elude four potential Tusky Valley tacklers and then outrun the defense on his way to a 90-yard touchdown strike.

Tusky Valley’s defense would get their revenge on the next Newcomerstown possession.  Facing a third and ten from his own 46, Newcomestown’s Gavin Weaver was picked off by Luke Herron and Herron raced his way down the home sideline before diving over a Newcomerstown tackler at the goal line for a Trojan defensive touchdown to push the lead to 40-6.

The Trojans would add one final touchdown midway through the fourth quarter when Bailey Nelson scored from 12 yards out to make the final score 47-6 Tusky Valley.

Tusky Valley dominated the game at the line of scrimmage as the Trojans rushed for 415 yards while only allowing 32 yards rushing to Newcomerstown.

With the victory the Trojans improve to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the IVC South.
