Through a partnership between the Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools, the Tusky Valley Athletic Booster Club and several local businesses the Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools were able to modernize our existing athletic facilities. The nearly $3 million dollar project provided state of the art facilities for all of the TVLS student-athletes as well as numerous youth programs in our community. The upgrades include new home grandstands at the stadium, the installation of field turf at the football stadium, the installation of a new lighting system at the football stadium, installation of complete field turf at the baseball field and infield field turf for softball.
The football field upgrades started during the spring of 2024 as the district replaced the home and visitor grandstands. The new grandstands featured slightly increased capacity, additional stairs with handrails, and a new handicapped platform for handicapped seating.
The upgrades continued in the summer of 2025 as the football stadium underwent a massive renovation project. The grass field was leveled and the grass surface wes replaced with turf. The runways for both the long jump and pole vault were resurfaced and a new lighting system was installed. The upgrades allowed the boys' and girls' soccer teams to move into the stadium and play their games under the lights.
The baseball field also underwent a complete resurfacing in the summer of 2025 as turf was installed in both the infield and outfield. Before the turf was installed, the field was leveled to create a flat playing surface for proper drainage and playability. Right field now features a retaining wall and the field measures 315' down the left field line, 324' down the right field line, 342' to right-center, 347' to left-left center and 347' to center field.
The turfed outfield also serves a practice area for numerous teams in the fall including boys' and girls' soccer, varsity football and middle school football.
The softball field also received upgrades in the summer of 2025. The entire infield area was leveled and turfed to provide better drainage and to allow the field to maintain its playability in the wet spring weather. The softball features a symmetrical 200' foot outfield fence. The hill directly behind the outfield fence provides a perfect place for fans to sit and enjoy a softball game.
While not part of the athletic facility upgrades in 2024 & 2025, TVLS student-athletes also get to enjoy a new gymnasium. The new gym was part of the new high school which opened in the fall of 2023. The air-conditioned gymnasium holds 1200 spectators, features a state of the art video board and modern, dynamic scoreboards donated to the district by the Tusky Valley Athletic Booster Club.
